What a long, wonderful trip it's been....

This is a crude map of our route...FL to Grand Lake in red, Grand lake to FL in green. I don't have mapping software installed so had to use a couple of different applications and it's probably not too accurate, but it's close enough. :)

If you're not familiar with Blogger, you should know that each day's pics (and each day) are posted from the bottom to the top. Also, if you want to see a larger version of a photo, just click on it, and then press the 'Back' button on your browser to get back to the blog.

Hope you enjoyed the trip, we certainly did!!

Back in Florida

We were having a few last giggles with this 13 foot alligator (real (but stuffed)) and a pink flamingo (not real, but we thought of Sherm when we saw it).

Our last gas stop at another tourist trap in FL. Susan chats with a guy and his pit bull/mastiff puppy.

...or white trash...but we loved the pic :)

...or a bad-ass...

"Burns fast, hard & deep"

All in good fun, of course.....we're not trying to say anyone is a sissy....

The fine print says:

'Suggestions for ordering:

Say: "GIMME the SISSIE SAUCE!"-

Say it like a man. See, it don't sound

so bad that way.'

I decided to stop at the Magnolia Plantation for gas (since there are a ton of billboards advertising it and I've always wanted to stop there) and to buy some thank-you gifts for our friends who opened their homes to us on our trip.

One more day...

This is probably our last really 'scenic' pic of the trip, right on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina off I-25. A woman was walking this cool lab and offered to take our pic. We hopped on this wall and the dog (Amy) walked right up and sat down under us. Even her owner was impressed! So I checked my rear tire before the trip, but apparently it went bald sometime during the trip. Susan had trouble with her clutch and had to tighten the cable, and meanwhile I decided to check my tire pressure. Then I saw the back tire....luckily, a local Yamaha dealer had a new one and got me in. It took a couple of hours but I'm ready for the wet ride home tomorrow. :)

Almost Home...

We have traveled through sixteen states during our two week trip.
This was taken in Harlan, KY on Friday. There was a rock quarry that we were told about at a local store, supposed to be a good spot to take a picture. This was on 421.
Kelly climbs the gravel to get a bird's eye view of the town and valley below.

Still in Kentucky...

Susan kickin' back in KentuckyDairy Queen Blizzard stop. It was HOT outside!!!
View from the top of the bridge
I think Susan has pretty much gotten over her fear of heights during this trip...or at least come a long way. She took this bridge like it was nothing, and even looked out over the edge!
We stayed in a suite at the Drury Inn in Paducah and were very impressed with it. This is the view from the elevator around the 4th floor.

Missouri

A gourmet biker's dinner at a Quick Mart. YUCK!!! We tried several of these pretzels, I think that they were made a month ago. Kelly tries to cool off in the ice cooler. It was a hot day in MO.
Kelly checks out the stream and rocks in a park in MO.My bike in front of a very unusual rock formation

Paducah-Bound

A roadside park on Hwy 160 in Missouri. It's a very pretty state but they don't have many places to stop and take pics on the side of the road. Susan's bike next to a large rock overhang.
